Kids are back to school and eager beaver parents are packing their bags and backpacks accordingly.

However, once you load up your son or daughter’s backpack with books, binders, pens, crayons, binders, notepads, and lunch—you may be preparing them for more than a successful school year. In fact, you might be setting them up for a future of neck, shoulder, back,  joint, muscle, and hip injuries!

Roughly 14,000 children are treated for backpack-related issues yearly, according to these statistics from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. At Barton Chiropractic we take care of a large amount of children and we see many problems directly related to backpack weight.  So before you pile the weight of the entire school year onto your child’s back, consider this: the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons explains that kids who carry backpacks that weigh more than 15-percent of their body weight are prone to neck, back, and shoulder pain, muscle and joint issues, and even permanent damage to posture.  Luckily, the Huffington Post has junior’s back with this A+ infographic on back-to-school backpack safety tips…

Corrective Care Chiropractic

Corrective Care Chiropractic is a completely different approach to achieving and maintaining optimal health.

A true Corrective Care Chiropractor will evaluate the Central Nervous System (CNS) and spinal function.  The Chiropractic Corrective Care doctor evaluates the person for not only trauma and pathology but more importantly for function.

Since our CNS controls every single one of our cells, tissues, and organs we need it to function as close to 100% as possible.  When we see a patient for the first time at our clinic we always let them know there are two basic forms of chiropractic care. One being relief care, which is pain control, and the other is corrective care, which works on the underlying structural abnormalities (that are causing the pain) to make a more permanent change.  It's kind of like spinal orthodontics.

Although all Chiropractors are able to give relief care, the Corrective Care doctors and staff at Barton Chiropractic will search for the true cause of any health condition and design a specific plan of action for each patient.

The Corrective Care adjustment and alignment process, similar to what an Orthodontist does to teeth to correct their alignment, in time can often correct the spinal alignment. Thus stopping, or at least, slowing down the degenerative decay in the spine.

This often requires several visits over a period of time. However, it will not require bracing the spine but instead giving very specific Chiropractic adjustments to slow down the degeneration at the spinal level and improve nerve function. Corrective Care Chiropractic can aid in building a healthy body and immune system by slowing down mechanical decay in the spine and helping the patient to function at an optimal level to maximize their overall health and quality of life.

If you or one of your family members have not been checked for spinal misalignment within the last year, you could be suffering from spinal degeneration and not even know it.

What causes headaches?

Headaches occur for a reason.

A headache is your body's way of signaling you that something is not right.

headache, migraine

The Doctors at Barton Chiropractic recognize that a headache is the body's warning alarm. Often that pain may be attributed to muscle tension and irritation of the nerves and blood vessels in the neck.

You have seven cervical vertebrae (spinal bones) in your neck. These vertebrae can become misaligned from excessive physical and emotional stress. This misalignment can irritate the nerve roots in the neck and may even cause minor constriction in some vessels which supply blood to the brain. When this happens, a headache can strike. once, twice, and again and again. If not cared for, more serious symptoms may develop.

At Barton Chiropractic, our only concern is detecting and correcting Subluxations, ( pinched nerves caused by spinal misalignments) . Research has shown that it is these misaligned vertebrae that often cause headaches.

How can I get rid of my headaches?

I don't know. Seriously, I don't know. There are many causes for headaches. If your headaches are caused by misalignments, you can take drugs to cover them up. But we both know that that wont work forever. Or you can find a Chiropractor that specializes in structural correction , such as the doctors at Barton Chiropractic.

We never charge you to sit down and talk to one of our doctors and find out if we can help. If we believe we can help you the next step will be to perform a thorough examination to determine if you have vertebral subluxations. If we determine that you do, and that they may be causing your headaches then we would proceed to take X-rays specific to your condition. Not just any X-rays but lose dose state of the art digital X-rays. Once we have determined that we can help you, we will sit down and go over your x-rays with you and explain exactly what is wrong as well as how long it will take to correct and exactly what it would cost.

At Barton Chiropractic, we are dedicated to helping you get out of pain as soon as possible. So if you or someone you love has been suffering with headaches, give us a call at (925) 685-2002 today to schedule your free consultation with one of our doctors.
